Dahi Puri Chaat

A popular indian street food which is simply made with the basic ingredients and topped with some whisked dahi(yogurt), sweet and spicy chutneys making this another addictive and delicious street chaat that you are bound to devour on !!❣️😋



For puri in this recipe, we can use the flat puris or even the ones which I have used. Also we can make the flat puris at home by either deep frying or baking and store them in air tight container for upto 2 weeks. I prefer the filled and round puri for this recipe instead of flat ones for this recipe since they can be filled with the dahi(yogurt) and other ingredients easily and do not turn messy when you eat these. Also, the ones used in this recipe are store bought. To know the recipe for baking the flat puri at home refer to the sev puri post as I have posted the recipe in there.


When you have the puri ready then the next thing in making dahi puri chaat is just assembling the dish together. This recipe is also a go-to snack option if you have all ingredients at home since it comes together in just a few minutes.




Dahi Puri Chaat

Ingredients for Cilantro chutney -

  • 3 cups fresh cilantro

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • 1 inch ginger

  • 3 green chillies

  • 1 tbsp lime juice

  • Salt, 1/2 tsp

Ingredients for Tamarind chutney -

  • Tamarind deseed

  • 2 tbsp grated jaggery powder

  • 1 tsp ginger powder

Ingredients for Sev Puri Chaat -

  • 1 onion, fine chopped

  • 2 boiled potatoes cut into small cubes

  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped

  • Cilantro, 1 cup, fine chopped

  • Curd, whisked, 1 cup

  • Green chillies, 3, fine chopped

  • Fresh cilantro, 1 cup, fine chopped

  • Chaat masala, 1 tbsp

  • Sev, 1 cup


Recipe -

Cilantro chutney -

In a blender, add cilantro, garlic clove, green chillies, ginger, 2 tbsp lime juice, 4 tbsp water, ¼ tsp salt and blend together to make a smooth paste.


Tamarind chutney -

Soak 4-5 tamarinds in hot water for 15 mins and then mash with hands to a paste. Add grated jaggery and ginger powder. Mix well and adjust consistency by adding water.


Dahi Puri assemble -

Place the puris on a plate. Place a little boiled potatoes on each then add some finely chopped onions and tomatoes. Add some fine chopped chillies in each. Add 1 tbsp curd into each. Sprinkle some chaat masala on each.


Then top some spicy cilantro chutney and sweet tamarind chutney on each.


Top it all with sev and garnish with some fresh coriander on each. Do sprinkle some more sprinkle of chaat masala and there you go, enjoy this delicious street food.
