A tasty, wholesome and delightful breakfast option this south indian snack takes a little longer time to make (if you make the batter yourself) but super easy and totally worth the efforts plus super healthy.š©āš³š
Masala Dosa
Ingredients -
2 cups Rice soaked for 6 hours
1 cup Urad dal soaked for 6 hours
1 cup Poha soaked for 5 minutes
1 tsp methi/fenugreek seeds soaked 6 hours
Salt , 1 tbsp
Potato, 2 medium, pressure cooked
Green chillies, 3, chopped
Curry leaves, 8-10
Onions, 1 small, thinly sliced
Mustard seeds, 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds, 1 tbsp
Urad dal, 1tbsp
Chana dal, 1 tbsp
Ghee, 2 tbsp
Turmeric, 1 tsp
Coriander powder, 1tsp
Chilli powder, 1 tsp
Recipe-
Dosa Batter -
Soak 2 cup rice and 1 cup urad dal atleast 6 hours in separate bowls and soak 1 tsp fenugreek/methi seeds with rice. Also, rinse and soak 1 cup poha for 5-10 mins before blending everything.
Blend urad dal and make a smooth paste. Similarly blend rice, methi seeds and soaked poha together and make a paste of smooth consistency.
Now mix both the mixtures together and let it sit to ferment overnight or atleast 8 hours. Then, Add 1 tsp salt and water as required to adjust consistency and mix the batter well.
Potato(Aloo) Masala
Pressure cook potatoes for 4 whistles and let them sit.
In a pan on medium heat, add 2 tbsp ghee. Add mustard and cumin seeds. Let it sputter and then add cleaned urad dal and chana dal with chopped green chillies and few curry leaves. Stir for a minute and then add 1/2 cup chopped onions with salt. Cook for 3-4 mins and then add turmeric, coriander powder, chili powder. Cook for a minute then add in smashed potatoes and mix well. Cover and cook for 2 minutes and its done !!
Serve hot dosas with masala and sambhar and enjoy this homely meal with some spicy chutneys ā£ļøš
